bwee! kalakirya has podficced an excellent reading of the Scholarly Works Series, in which Jim and Blair have at each other in publication. The covers are so cute, and her academic tone is so arch and hilarious. \o/

hooray! [livejournal.com profile] laurie_ky has made Somewhere to Be available as the most lovely podfic. It's up on amplificathon for your enjoyment. Originally an offering for the Moonridge Auction.

Thank you, Laurie!

The Sentinel's 852 Prospect Archive move to AO3 is gearing up! Here's more about it. If you are a writer and have already imported your stories to AO3, do what I did and edit your stories to add them to the 852 Prospect Collection so that you won't get duped on import (and so that the old archive links will now redirect to your existing AO3 stories). It's easy peasy.

If you haven't yet imported, don't worry, you will get an email to your address on the old archive and the imports will happen automatically and you can decide stuff then. If that address is defunct, there are instructions in the above link.

I am so psyched about this. alice_ttlg has labored many years over 852 and deserves the break she's been asking for.

ho-yay! [livejournal.com profile] laurie_ky with endless patience (and an awesome, husky contralto and the perfect, wise-ass, cynical Jimbo accent) has recorded a podfic version of my Sentinel AU Somewhere to Be, in which Jim is a burned-out vet working in a soup kitchen and Blair shows up to work on his thesis on the internal organization and subsistence strategies of the homeless. Blair gets curious. Jim gets cranky.

Laurie did an amazing, amazing job, and the podfic is now available as a Moonridge Charity Auction offering for $10 to anyone who wishes a copy. You can learn more details by clicking on her cover:

Cover art includes images from homeless shelter and Jim lying on couch with Blair crouched beside him.

Podfic will be generally available after the next [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon.

\o/ boosting the signal that The 852 Prospect Sentinel Archive is moving in with AO3 as an Integrated Collection. I specifically joined Open Doors so I could help out with the move because I have spent so very many enjoyable hours on 852 and felt like it was time to give a little back.

I'm going to be a little busy come beginning of June. :)))

well, holy sheet. Christmas has been very, very good to me.

my short story, Fucking With Sandburg, has just won a Light My Fire Award in the Day In The Life category (Loft Stories Award).

My story Complicated won for the Clue Bus (First Time) category.

And apparently I've been voted first place in the LMFA category: Slash—New Author.

::gonk::

Thanks, my Sen-fan friends. I've been using the LFMAs from previous years to find great TS stories to read. It's kinda overwhelming to think people will be finding me there amongst the writers I admire.

so now that I have finally turned in the gold master on our new CD I feel I can finally sit back and enjoy my birthday. damned inconvenient timing.

a belated thanks to the lovely fangirls who made me excruciatingly wonderful presents.

okay, so obviously I need to have my birthday more often, because [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt made me this piece of beautiful hotness. warning: it will melt your eyeballs.

First to Last

only a day or so early but I always open my presents exactly when I get them.

thank you, Jane!

I am bored because work requires me to herd cats (engineers) today and I am waiting for check-ins.

here is a meme I spiffed from [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds:

* Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done.

* See if anybody else responds with "I've done that." If they have, you need to add another!(2.b., 2.c., etc...)

* Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life

I have:
1. Gone skydiving (I can't be alone on my flist?)
ETA: [livejournal.com profile] utterfrivolity has also jumped, so we add:
1b. When my cat died, I kept her in the crisper. (the vegetable drawer in my fridge. hey, it was a Sunday, and my vet office was closed.)
2. Klutzed right into Greg Louganis (wham!) when he was wearing 5 gold medals on his chest (1984 Summer Olympics, on his way to press conference.)
3. Attacked my own muggers and retrieved my stolen wallet.

In other news, I am finally making progress on my Jim-as-Vigilante/Whore fic. Wee!

arrow00: (ts:starburst)
[livejournal.com profile] janedavitt started a dangerously funny PJ comment fic based on When Irony Hands You Lemons and I've hopped onto the party train.

All aboard for sick PJ-porn!

When Irony Hands You Lemons )

So, this is all (once again) [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's fault. It all started with a posting she made in which...well, I'll let you read it for yourself if you're interested, but what came to me while reading it was we need better archiving. Not that existing archives aren't beautiful and whatnot, but there is no tie in with LJ, and the LJ community is thriving, and many people (such as me) are posting directly to LJ and not bothering to archive (for a variety of reasons.)

The problem with the LJ community is: stuff gets lost. I discovered that myself when digging up stories for my reclist. There are just too many wonderful gems disappearing into the mists of time. The folks at places like [livejournal.com profile] ds_weekly and others do a fantastic job of keeping us in touch with each other on a weekly basis, but they aren't searchable...and there is just no guarantee that LJ won't disappear like the wind in a desert.

The Proposed Solution )

arrow00: (whatever)
[livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9 said I should do this, and I am but her willing slave.
The timing seems appropriate since I'm nearing my one year anniversary
in due South Fandom. I came to dS on January 19th, and discovered The Sentinel
in May (it was all [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's fault.)
