Oh, this was so, so lovely. I love the idea of Ray resisting face-to-face sex, and Fraser waiting patiently until the day comes when everything changes. I adore Ray's response to Fraser's hesitant question ("I woke up. You were here.") and this:
"I'm here," Fraser answers stupidly. "I'll always be here." He automatically takes Ray's hand (his right hand, his ring hand) and brings it to his chest to hold it there.
"Yeah." Ray presses close, his forehead bumping against Fraser's.
"I finally figured that out."
is a great reversal of the way the insecurities of both men usually play out in canon. What a great idea to have Ray be concerned that Fraser will leave. And the use of that ring hand...*happy sigh* We're just big ol' gushy romantics, aren't we? Thanks for yet another great piece!
