Ray, I think, would have been useful on my trip home--it took me almost an hour to get my (single) bag checked and through airport security. I wanted to kick them in the head.

I do have a certain swarthy look about me, of course. They should fear me.

I report as follows: Bitchin' Party ([livejournal.com profile] bitchinparty) was just that--Bitchin', in the 80s sense of the term--there were pretty-in-pink scarves and parachute pants (honestly, [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds) and outrageously sexy go-go girls ([livejournal.com profile] omphale23 teaches us the value of fishnets for revealing smoking hot tattoos) and, of course, gay vampire porn on the big screen. Not to mention papaya/watermelon porn on the little one, and stirring renditions of Northwest Passage, which I don't associate with the 80s so much. Thus, my analogy or whateverthefuck is easily broken.

But all I can say is, [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck rocks like the awesomest rockin' John Hughes movie. Thanks to her and all the con committee for kickin' A, dude.

I was met at the airport by two people I have long admired: [livejournal.com profile] katallison, and [livejournal.com profile] kormantic, whom I didn't realize was also pares so I was perhaps spared the embarrassment of squeeing altogether too loudly upon meeting her. I get pretty tongue-tied, so that's a mercy. We then hooked up with [livejournal.com profile] par_avion (whom I'd met previously at BASCon, yay) at her baggage claim (where her bags *weren't*, tragically) and headed over to the hotel.

The first day--no, I should say the entire con--passed in something of a blur of meeting people, forgetting their names, and having to look down at their nametags again while somehow *not* giving the appearance of having to look at their nametags again. I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] meresy whom I didn't get to spend enough time with. Ditto [livejournal.com profile] dessert_first who is about as charming as you can imagine. I got to squee momentarily with [livejournal.com profile] zabira but then something happened, some sort of en masse migration downstairs so I only got to wave briefly at [livejournal.com profile] ignazwisdom and hug [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9 before we all shuffled out.

In the meeting room I finally ran into [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds and it was time to squee in earnest, because this was a reunion of sorts and I had somehow forgotten just how much I adore being with her, perhaps as a self-protective mechanism because she lives ALL THE WAY OVER IN VIRGINIA. Damn it. I also got to yammer with [livejournal.com profile] qe2 who is dedicated and smart (the sheer brain power contained at the con was kind of breathtaking, actually) and funny as hell.

Somewhere in there (the timeline is oh-so-unclear to me. Perhaps they slipped GHB in the TimBits) a big crowd of us ended up safely crossing the Intersection of Death to go to a nearby restaurant where, apparently for fear of exposing us to other guests, the staff locked the doors until we were done eating. Perhaps it was all the cackling. I shudder to think. But I got to sit across from [livejournal.com profile] omphale23, which was tres sweet, and not just because she let me have some of her dinner. I think what she knows about music wouldn't even fit on a terabyte drive. [livejournal.com profile] andeincascade was waaaay down at the end of the table so I didn't get to talk to her until later.

hrm. what next? Folks hung out in front of the hall and I sort of got to talk a little with [livejournal.com profile] secretlybronte, whom I greatly admire, but at that point I think I was a little freaked by how very many fantastically cool fangirls were congregated in one small space. I feared for the integrity of the time-space continuum. That must be why I sorta shut down a little and watched [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck wave Sock Puppet Joe Dick around hypnotically. I did get to say hi to [livejournal.com profile] troyswann and then folks broke up to go to dinner but I'd already eaten, so I took the opportunity to check out the hotel's gym.

After that it was nothing but Gay Vampire Porn for what felt like hours and hours. They all glistened spectacularly and there was much pouty-face and then, of course, the porn. The very glisteny shower-porn and the very-glisteny beach porn (ouch, hello sand.)

After the porn, spuffy and I were really in the mood for porn, so we went back to my room and watched porn.

Uh. That was day one.

And now, a brief service announcement: if I didn't manage to give you a "Where's the Wolf?" reminder card at the Con, I have uploaded a desktop version you can use as wallpaper.

Lessee: day two was cool because of the panels, mainly, and because I got to spend some quality time with [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9, who is just as sweet and brilliant and gorgeous in real life as in her writing (no fair.) I had to resist asking her how she could possibly be so compassionate and together and wonderful at such a tender age. I think at 25 I was still in a punk band in NYC searching the couch cushions for quarters to pay for 2am breakfast specials.

I loved the panels. I don't do well in social type situations but I love nothing better than to talk about fandom (and due South in particular) and I loved listening to what other fangirls think about these boys we love so much. I especially enjoyed Nos' "Who is Benton Fraser" panel. People had so many interesting ideas about that boy and his relationships with the Rays.

Somewhere in the middle I went and did my workout. There was a little girl in the swimming pool who was having such a fun time playing with the bubbles in the jacuzzi I didn't want to tell her, "yuck. You're playing with chlorine foam." Oh, and at some point [livejournal.com profile] slidellra started a snowball fight in the parking lot. It's all her fault.

The vid show itself was fantastic. [livejournal.com profile] jarrow's "Maneater" cracked me the hell up, and I absolutely adored "I Enjoy Being a Girl" by AbsoluteDestiny and "Razzle Dazzle" by Killa and crew. The list of all vids is here with download links.

Truly, the show was seamless and brilliant and [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup deserves huge applause because I know what from how DIFFICULT it is to achieve that.

After the vid show I think we went back to someone's room and watched more porn.

Oh! And I got to talk to the charming [livejournal.com profile] china_shop on the phone long-distance. So wish she could have come, but circumnavigating the globe just so I could squee at her was apparently not in the cards.

On day three, I went to breakfast, snuck into the writing panel, and then took a huge nap because we were up late watching the porn. Then I had a work-out and we then herded the folks we could find into omphale and slidellra's room to watch Big Eden. I so heart that movie (which is a C6D movie btw because it stars Eric Schweig from the dS Pilot--he's the one who shoots Gerrard.)

On Monday I had breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] torra YAY! and I did finally get to hang out with the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] zabira and [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup and took a cab to the airport with [livejournal.com profile] par_avion. Where I waited in the security line for them to discover my bag full of porn.

I'm sure I am leaving out tons of people I enjoyed meeting, like [livejournal.com profile] bluebrocade, [livejournal.com profile] utterfrivolity and [livejournal.com profile] malnpudl (who has a terrific singing voice) and [livejournal.com profile] keerawa and her lovely Steven and [livejournal.com profile] sansets, [livejournal.com profile] kayjay206, [livejournal.com profile] etcetera_cat, [livejournal.com profile] simplystars who gave me a ROCKIN' present that I cannot detail for fear of a federal warrant, [livejournal.com profile] isiscolo who has a terrific wit, [livejournal.com profile] ifreet and [livejournal.com profile] ruthless1 and who the hell am I forgetting? Well, I suck, that's all there is to it. But, like someone noted to me on the last day, we'd need about a day for each congoer just to spend the kind of time we wanted to spend.

So, next up on the docket: establish a Fangirl Commune! We'll do the Farm one better: organic, home-grown, er, porn.

Eee!
