Thumper

We had a real nice thumper of an earthquake this morning around 5am. 4.2 on the richter scale, centered across the bay in Oakland.

It woke me from a sound sleep, actually thought I was dreaming it for a second. And since I was dreaming about Ray at the time, well--fun!

Of course, [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds is visiting in Oakland right now. Welcome to California, babe!

I remember reading a fic once where Jim senses a Big One about to hit and calls all the emergency agencies to try to prepare them. Wish I could remember what story that was; I'd love to read it today.

I didn't feel it but I have a friend who lives above the Claremont Hotel, and her kitchen was ruined. Everything fell out of the cupboards! Pictures flew off the walls. You know, typical California stuff.

Glad it didn't wake you...altho I have to say I kind of enjoy (non-dangerous) earthquakes. Something about the natural laws not applying.

I passed on your contact info to spuff, btw (or her cutie husband, at least). :)

Wow. Earthquakes. Scary stuff. And kind of exotic for where I live. Glad it wasn't a too strong one and everything is OK. *hugs*

Believe me, you get used to the little ones. It's the biggies that you have to look out for, and I've only experienced two in my life.

But I thank you for *hugs* any ol' day. :)
