I had a dream that I was with New Jersey (Jeff Goldblum) from Buckaroo Bonzai. We were married (ick? I don't even read het; can't stand the thought) which was odd, too, because it seemed like some kind of arranged thing. And I have no interest in marriage.
Usually I dream about a fandom pairing I'm into: Fraser and Ray together, and I'm just watching the action. (And taking notes. Lots of notes.)
The strangest thing about the dream was the fucking (hot), because instead of fucking me up the ass (which for some weird reason I was expecting), he went for my girly bits. And that's fine; it was nice.
Really nice.
But why did I expect him to knock on the back door? Obviously, this must be related to all the slash I've been reading (I only discovered slash a year or so ago). I'm wondering how much becoming a slasher as affected my own sexuality.
My boyfriend (off now, sometimes on) and I do it that way, but out of his preference, not my urging.
I'm just startled that my erotic dreams started taking the same turn.
How much do we relate to the characters we read? How much of the sex hotness is transference? I don't find it as physically stimuating to be penetrated that way in real life, obviously: I don't have the right, er, equipment. I find it extremely !yeah! reading AS scenes, and I'm usually flitting around between their minds or viewing from outside when I fantasize.
Anyway, hot, strange, brought up some questions.
Such as: is there any Buckaroo Bonzai slash out there? All them Hong Kong Cavaliers...

hmm, i wonder about that too. do you like New Jersey, at least? i've had a similar dream but it was Jared Leto. the problem is, i don't even like him much.. sure he's pretty, but i never read fanfic remotely related to the guy.. ah, the workings of the subconscious -- very strange indeed!

Date: 2007-04-12 06:42 pm (UTC)Yes, I do like Jersey ("is that a watermelon?"), but then I prefer Buckaroo himself, or so I thought. I'd love to read a Buckaroo/Perfect Tommy story. yee!
I met my current boyfriend *after* I found slash, so the interesting thing to me is I don't find him as hot as my fantasies, although that could just be my reaction to him specifically (he's a little nervous, not very um. masterful.) and not a sign that slash has destroyed my enjoyment of real guys.
This is just so strange, though.
Do you fantasize about the guys as you are falling asleep? Maybe try a little directed dreaming... :)

Date: 2007-04-12 06:48 pm (UTC)I love dreaming about the guys. It happens more when I'm in writing-mode and my brain is seeking plots.
I've been meaning to ask you if you've ever compiled a list of Fraser-gets-tied-up recs and, if not, how much I could pay you to. *grins hopefully*

Uhm, no? :) But that's a GOOD idea. I'll keep it in mind for future. *grins teasingly* Although it'd definitely have to wait 'cause as of now I have 4 (FOUR!) unfinished lists sitting on my comp waiting to be put together properly (F/K/V pairing masterlist, fics with unusual format, rentboy!fics and stories where our boys meet pre-canon as teens). *Sigh* :D

Date: 2007-04-13 05:06 am (UTC)hee! i find that events in the day *do* affect the contents of the dreams, but it's too bad in the sense that what's gonna show up in dreams can't be "only" the stuff i read before i go to bed.
taking a recent example: i read some F/K story that leaves a heavy impression, and if i'm lucky, i might have some dream about F or K, but the dream is tied in with several other events from the day. so the poor guy in my dream might have a broken wrist because i was watching a medical drama at 9pm, and he was a graphics designer (instead of mountie or CPD detective) because i talked to such a person in the morning.
so yeah, i'll let you know if directed dreaming works for me, but i really doubt it. the only other person on my flist who also dreams about F/K is
