Arrow,

This is amazing. I am glad that you returned to this and finished it. The theme of a long separation between them after the adventure is one of the hardest for me to bear, mostly because it seems too plausible, and I don't enjoy breaking them too hard--but this was one of the more satisfying stories I've read in the genre. They split and have separate lives, and it is sad to see the suffering Fraser put himself through, but it feels real, and terribly in character. I can feel for the part of him that feels like his path was set long ago, and there is nothing he can do but accept his fate in the hands of life's harshness.

One of the most striking images in the story was the image of Ray coming north to visit...you just conjured a very specific older Ray instantly to me, and it kinda made me catch my breath. In fact, the older, calmer, wiser, worldly Ray was one of my favorite aspects of this.

The h/c of the injury unfolded at a great pace, and allowed their relationship to knit back together in a very satisfying way.

I wish I could be more coherent, and even more specific, but at this point, I just gotta say, well done, hon, works for me.
